Mission Statement Christian Education.

Our Mission in Christian Education is to teach the Word of God, its history, and its relevance in our daily lives. In an increasingly complex, materialistic, and chaotic world, both children and adults need to know the steadying influence of God and the Church families in their lives. Our children are taught about the infinite love and wisdom of God, and they accept this. Youth and Adults, however, are able to question their faith, and we must strive to continue to find ways to reach this group. In making important personal, moral, and ethical decisions, the power of Jesus Christ can quite literally transform our lives.

Calvary Church's Sunday School program offers classes for adults, youth, and children. Classes are held each Sunday morning for one hour starting at 9 am. Sunday School classes are held starting the first Sunday after Labor day and usually run through the 2nd Sunday in June. There are no Sunday School classes over the summer.

For adults we offer two classes:

Adult Forum- This class consists of various speakers and topic discussion
Bible Study- This is a class-run Bible study. Participants are involved with Study of different books of the Bible with lots of great discussion.

For children, classes this year are as follows:

Age 2-3

Ages 4- Kindergarten

Grades 1-2

Grades 3-5

These classes use the Scripture Press curriculum. Their mission statement is:

This spring the classes have been learning about the love of Jesus, the first Easter, telling others about Jesus, our work in God's plan and our place in the church.

For youth we have the following classes:

Grades 6-8 ( Junior High )

This class often uses the Gospel Light "Youth Builders" curriculum which is geared towards helping youth put their faith in action. This is supplemented with unit about the current Church calendar such as Advent and Lent.

Grades 9-12 ( High School )

This class uses the Zelos curriculum from Scripture Press. This spring they have been learning about the Bible and religions, spiritual growth, and may have time for a study of the book of Ecclesiastes.

We at Calvary are lucky to have caring, dedicated people staffing our children's programs.

Childcare for children ages 6 and under is available during the 10:30 am worship service. Infants and children through age 2 are cared for during the entire service in our crib room. Pagers are used for communication with parents in cause of an emergency. Children age 3 through age 6 attend worship and leave with the childcare person after the Children's Sermon.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 10-July 14,2006. This is an evening program that includes dinner for those who pre-register.  They will step into Bible stories and step closer in their relationship with God. Each story is designed to invite children right into the Bible story to become a part of each adventure. Classes are offered for all ages of children beginning at age 2 through teenager. There will be a class for adults too.

Confirmation is a two-year program open to all youth who are at least in the 7th grade. Generally, the class meets once a month on a Sunday evening. Contact the pastor at steve@calvaryreformeducc.org for more information.

Youth Group is open to all youth grade 6 through grade 12. There are two groups, grade 6-8 and grades 9-12, who sometimes meet together and sometimes as separate groups. You can get a schedule by contacting the church office at church@calvaryreformeducc.org .
